Welcome Dr. Diona Lewis!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Diona Lewis as the new Orchard Academy principal. Dr. Diona Lewis holds an EdD in Educational Leadership Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, an M.A. in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University, an administrative endorsement from Aurora University, and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Northwestern University with a concentration in art and social sciences. Dr. Lewis is a Fellow with the Georgetown University Center for Juvenile Justice Reform, earning a certification through the School and Justice Partnerships Program.  She is also completing a fellowship with the US Department of Education and is currently working on her superintendent endorsement through Loyola University.

Throughout her career, Dr. Lewis has been a special education classroom teacher, Athletic Director, Pupil Services Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Lewis chose Orchard Academy to put her practice to work providing life-centered educational opportunities to the young adults the Academy serves to maximize their outcomes in post-secondary life.

In her spare time, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, traveling, scrapbooking, photography, and working out. She is excited about joining the Orchard Village team and working with the community we serve.
