At the June board meeting, Orchard Village honored the memory of the late David Ellis, a longtime board member and supporter. Board Chairman Stephen Green presented the engraving for the Orchard Village Hall of Fame to Marcia Ellis, David’s wife of 46 years. David served on the Orchard Village Board of Directors from 2010 until his passing in 2022. He served as Treasurer of the Board and chaired the Finance Committee.
“David Ellis was always concerned that, in addition to the residents, the staff were taken well taken care of. He was concerned about staff turnover, addressing issues he thought might impact the reasons why people left Orchard Village. He was vigilant in watching the business side of the agency, especially during the very difficult years when resources were very limited. He did his best to ensure that Orchard Village would be an ongoing business for years to come,” stated Marlene Hodges, COO & CFO. Outside of his service to Orchard Village, Ellis was the General Manager of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra for 18 years.
Our sympathy and care continue to go out to Marcia, and their sons, Michael, Matthew, and Peter, for their loss. We cannot express our gratitude enough for the time and commitment David gave to our organization.
