Happy New Year! This fall and winter at Orchard Village has been full of activities and improvements to our buildings, homes, and programs. In September, we cut the ribbon on our newest building at 7620 Gross Point Road, and we took occupancy of the building in November. The new space is allowing us to grow and provide new opportunities to those individuals we serve.
Recently, Orchard Village developed and implemented an agency-wide performance management system designed to support decision-making and continuous performance improvement. All departments created meaningful goals and associated metrics to track progress.
One of the goals for our residents and program participants is to enhance their quality of life and provide social activities that are fun and engaging. This fall and winter, we had several parties, including a Halloween party, Thanksgiving luncheons, and the annual Winter Holiday Party.
The holidays were also celebrated with a gift drive for more than 90 Orchard Village participants in our residential, intermittent, and home-based programs. Once again Aetna Insurance, AT&T, JMB Insurance, and generous individual donors helped us to purchase gifts.
Also, this fall our basketball season kicked off with 10 Orchard Villagers shooting hoops and scoring points against other Special Olympics teams.
Finally, I want to thank the whole Orchard Village team, our dedicated volunteers, generous donors and all the families for all they have done during the fall and holiday season to make it a special time of year for all the individuals and families we serve.
