As part of Orchard Village’s “Here We Grow” campaign, we are happy to announce that we’ve purchased two larger, more accessible homes to meet the changing housing needs of our residents. These homes will replace three of our smaller, less accessible, older homes. In May, residents moved into our first new home in Skokie. In August, we held an open house at our second new home, in Park Ridge, and hosted residents, family members, staff, board members, and our neighbors. The neighbors, even the previous owner of the home, stopped by to check out our new renovations. Eight residents recently moved into their new home in Park Ridge and are doing well.
With the purchases of these homes, we can provide beautiful, fully accessible, and more energy-efficient housing to our residents; many of whom are getting older and have different housing needs. For example, one of our participants, who has been a client for over 40 years, has recently needed to make the transition from independent living to around-the-clock care. With the purchase of our Park Ridge home, we were better able to accommodate his needs. Together, these new homes serve 15 residents. Thank you to those who donated to support our campaign.
