Matthew’s been a student at Orchard Academy for three years after being referred by his high school. Since his first day, he has interned at various job sites, including Marshall’s, Cici’s Pizza, the Niles Food Pantry, and Walgreen’s, where he develops his skills and gains workforce experience. He has also volunteered at community charities. Matthew says the Academy has helped him “learn skills on how to live as a responsible adult.”
Matthew’s goals are to complete an Associate’s Degree, followed by a four-year college degree, and possibly even get a Master’s! Right now, Matthew is interested in studying retail or business. He says the staff is his favorite thing about Orchard Academy. They “really care about the students” and “take the time and effort to help each individual achieve their goals.”
Your gift supports students like Matthew as they transition into adulthood and gain experiences that set them on a path toward independence. Orchard Academy is one of our many programs that help individuals with disabilities live fulfilling, community-integrated lives.
