What do you get when you mix a sun-soaked day, a stunning golf course, and golfers with a heart of gold? Orchard Village’s 32nd Annual Golf Outing at beautiful Westmoreland Country Club! This year’s event wasn’t just about hitting the perfect drive; it was about driving change and making a real difference in the lives of the people with developmental disabilities whom we support.
Clear skies and a gentle breeze set the perfect stage for a day of friendly competition and unforgettable moments. As golfers navigated the fairways, they knew that each swing was more than just a shot at a Jackpot birdie — it was a shot at helping fund our programs, which bring joy, connection, and greater independence to those we serve.
One standout volunteer was Shawn, who is a resident in one of Orchard Villages homes and found work at MOD Pizza through our employment program. Shawn has been a dedicated presence at the golf outing for years, helping sell squares on the square board with his infectious enthusiasm. His commitment to our mission and the joy he brings to the event embodies the spirit of community that makes this day so special.
The highlight of the day was Denise, our very own Special Olympics athlete. Denise attended the dinner with her collection of medals that tell the story of her hard work, determination, and passion. From basketball to golf, Denise has proven that with the right support and opportunities, anything is possible. Her medals are a tangible token of the power of our programs and the impact they have on the lives of program participants.
Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, participants, and volunteers, this year’s outing raised over $90,000 that will help to keep our programs thriving. These funds ensure that Shawn, Denise and other program participants can continue to excel, whether it’s in field and track, on the basketball court, or in their everyday lives.
