Excitement filled the Orchard Village Activity Center on October 29th as our Special Olympics team, the Blossoms, hit the court to challenge Orchard Village (OV) staff in a high-energy basketball showdown. Cheers erupted as players showcased skill, teamwork, and love for the game.
Guided by coach and Therapeutic Recreation Manager Carly Bell, the Blossoms launched an impressive game strategy. Coached by Carl La Mell, dedicated board member, the staff team, which included Josh Kinser, Femi Matimoju, Robert Murphy, Treadious Brown, Connie Ball, and Temi Atetayo, brought their best, determined to match the Blossoms’ intensity and enthusiasm. Joe Karales, OV Job Coach, stepped up as a referee, keeping the action moving and ensuring fair play.
From the first whistle, both teams dove into each play—passing, blocking, and racing down the court to the delight of an enthusiastic crowd of family, friends, and OV staff. Both
teams pushed each other to give it their all. In the end, the Blossoms came away victorious!
Thank you to all who attended, cheered, and helped make this fun event possible! You can watch the Blossoms in action at their next game on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. They will play Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation Purple at the Orchard Village Activity Center 7672 Marmora Ave., Skokie, IL.
