A Season of Giving

This holiday season at Orchard Village was overwhelmingly special, thanks to the generosity of our families, donors, and volunteers.

  • Ahead of Thanksgiving, Mary Robbins and her Baird & Warner, Edgebrook coworkers donated 16 delicious apple and pumpkin pies to help us celebrate. The pies are a favorite among clients and staff alike!
  • On November 30, generous donors raised a record-breaking $76,963 on GivingTuesday. Thanks to the power of community, we were able to meet our match donation challenges and use the funds raised to support clients and staff who continue to navigate the challenges of the pandemic. Thank you to The Coleman Foundation for the $12,500 match; thank you to anonymous donors and foundations that also matched a $15,000 challenge.
  • We received many wonderful gifts through our annual Holiday Giving Tree in December. Thank you to the generous parishioners of First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, the employees of Aetna and AT&T, Steve and Sabina Green, and all of our other donors; your gifts helped fill clients’ wish lists and make the season special for them.
  • This year we also had the help of some ‘Santas” who sent in donations from Orchard Village’s Amazon gift list. We were overwhelmed with the number of gifts we received. Thank you to all the Santas who help fulfill holiday wishes for the individuals we serve.
  • Some ‘elves’ also stopped by Orchard Village right before Christmas to help wrap all those gifts. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped out: Susan Bohm, Roberta Bower, Karen Daugerdas, Kathy Knight, and Therese Rakushin.

A heartfelt thank you to all who donated to Orchard Village this fall and over the holiday season. Your donations made the season special for the people we serve. Thank you!
