The Orchard Village community gathered in the Activity Center on June 24th for the Annual Meeting, where program participants and Orchard Village Blossom Awardees were recognized and celebrated for their achievements.
The evening began with a buffet dinner, followed by highlights of our incredible Special Olympics athletes who proudly represented Orchard Village at the Illinois State Olympiad in Bloomington, IL. Competing in the Track and Field events, Orchard Village athletes, coached by Therapeutic Recreation Manager Carly Bell, took home 7 medals — 5 gold and 2 silver.
The other highlight of the evening was the recognition of the inaugural Orchard Village Blossom Award winners (see Blossom Awards article). Each awardee was given an engraved crystal bowl and a cash award.
Board President, Steve Green, and Orchard Village executive staff reviewed the successful year. President and CEO Susan Kaufman also delivered her annual report, highlighting Orchard Village’s accomplishments and setting the stage for the year ahead. Her update focused on Orchard Village’s financial stability and the growth in programs for participants—especially the day programs and the new behavioral health clinic. Susan spoke about continuing efforts to update our housing and make homes more accessible for residents who need walk-in showers and fewer stairs, and she drew attention to the recent purchase of our newest homes.
The 2024 Annual Meeting highlighted the strength and unity of our community. Our journey together continues, inspired by the achievements and spirit of everyone connected to Orchard Village.
